Scholarships for Girls and Women 2023 – A Detailed Overview
1. Kotak Kanya Scholarship
The purpose of this initiative is to provide financial assistance to deserving girls from disadvantaged backgrounds so they can continue their education beyond the 12th grade. Award: Each selected scholar will receive a scholarship of INR 1.5 lakh* every year until they complete their professional diploma courses or degrees.
Eligibility-
Available to female students in India. Candidates must have passed the Class 12 board exam with 85% or more in marks or an equivalent CGPA. The family income of the applicant shall not exceed Rs. 6,00,000 (Rupees Six Lakh) per year. Talented female students who have been accepted into prestigious, NIRF/NAAC-accredited institutions for first-year graduation programs in the academic year 2023 for professional academic pursuits like engineering, medicine, business, law, or other professional courses (such as design, architecture, etc.) The Kotak Kanya Scholarship 2023 is not available to children of Kotak Mahindra Group, Kotak Education Foundation, or Buddy4Study workers.
2. Santoor Women’s Scholarship
Goal: The Santoor Women’s Scholarship, provided by Wipro Consumer Care and Wipro Cares, offers financial aid of INR 24,000 each year to female students who have completed their 12th grade and aspire to study humanities, liberal arts, or sciences at a higher level. 900 female students from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana are recipients of the scholarship. Prize: INR 24,000 every year.
Eligibility: Female students in AP, Karnataka, and Telangana who are currently enrolled in a full-time diploma or degree program lasting at least three years, who have passed class 10 at a local government school, and who have passed class 12 at a government school or junior college in the current academic year Apply online in August or September.
3. Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Scholarship
The goal of this scholarship program for girls is to support Indian women who have graduated and are pursuing higher education in the following fields at reputable US, UK, or European universities: Social Work, Education, Social Sciences, Education & Special Needs Welfare of Children, The fields of Gender Studies, Health Policy and Health Education, Mental Health (focusing on women and children), Rural Development Work, Adolescent Needs – Urban and Rural, Communication for Development, Development Studies, Research and Study of Social Norms in Communities, and Violence against Women and Children, including Domestic Violence.
Award: Monetary support Eligibility: Female candidates must have completed their degree and maintained consistently high academic standing, applied to and been accepted into a reputable accredited school in the US, UK, or Europe, and have at least two years of relevant work experience.

4. Adobe Research Women-in-Technology Scholarship
The goal of this award for girls is to provide female students participating in undergraduate or graduate programs in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical subjects with a one-time stipend of USD 10,000. Applicants for the Adobe Research Women-in-Technology Scholarship are required to apply along with their resume, academic transcripts, three references, four essays, and if desired, a 60-second video that highlights their ideal job.
Prizes include USD 10,000, a one-year Creative Cloud subscription, a mentor in Adobe research, and the chance to interview for an Adobe internship. A full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled full-time in the current academic year, with a major in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical subject, high academic standing, and no close relatives employed by Adobe Research are required for eligibility. Online applications are accepted between September and November.
5. Tata Housing Scholarships for Meritorious Girl Students
Goal: This scholarship for girls is a merit-cum-means award that gives deserving female students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds up to INR 60,000 in cash support. Students majoring in Civil Engineering, B.Arch., and MBA (Construction Project Management) are eligible to apply for this Tata Housing Scholarship. Award: Reimbursement for costs associated with admission, tuition, library use, exams, book purchases, etc. is limited to INR 60,000.
Eligibility: Girls enrolled in a 4-year program in civil engineering or architecture, such as a B.E/B.Tech/B. Arch program, or an MBA program in construction project management in the first year, must meet certain requirements. Specifically, they must have received 50% of their marks in the first year of engineering coursework for B.E/B.Tech/B.Arch students, or 50% in the MBA program’s qualifying degree exam. Additionally, their family income must not exceed INR 3 lakh per year.
6. Pragati Scholarship – AICTE-Scholarship Scheme to Girl Child (SSGC)
Goal: Female students admitted to an AICTE-approved institution’s first-year diploma or degree course are eligible to apply for the Pragati Scholarship. This scholarship program provides up to INR 30,000 in funding per year to support the higher education of up to 4,000 female students. The amount awarded: INR 30,000 (or the actual amount of tuition, whichever is less) plus INR 2000 per month for ten months as annual incidental expenses.
Eligibility: Female candidates must have enrolled in an AICTE-approved institution’s first year of a diploma or degree program during the current academic year. Their family’s yearly income cannot exceed INR 8 lakh, and no more than two females from the same household may apply for the scholarship. Apply online in November or December.
7. Prabha Dutt Fellowship
Goal: The Prabha Dutt Fellowship, established by Sanskriti Pratishthan, provides mid-career women journalists with a grant of INR 1,000,000 to support them in pursuing worthwhile projects on subjects with current relevance. You can submit the project in Hindi, English, or any other regional language. Candidates must submit a 250–300 word essay outlining their projects with their résumé. Award: 10 months Fellowship with a reward of INR 1,000,000 awarded twice: once at the start of the project and once more after the project is turned in and completed. 8. Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship
Goal: Minority female students enrolled in grades 9 through 12 can apply for the Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship, formerly known as the Maulana Azad Scholarship, which provides a scholarship of up to INR 12,000 to recipients. Meritorious students from the Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Parsi communities are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Prize: up to INR 12,000, payable in two equal installments.
Eligibility: To be eligible, a student must be a girl from a minority community, have at least a 50% aggregate score from the previous class, and have an annual family income of no more than INR 2 lakh. Apply online or by mail in August or September.
